There are normally 2 timers on a digital camera, one is about 2 seconds and the other is 10 seconds. Probably the best way to use the 2 second timer is to stop blur and vibration in long exposures. What you do is to set the shot up by putting the camera on a tripod or a firm surface, get the shot ready to go and then activating the timer. Once it’s all ready you simply press the shutter button. After 2 seconds the camera will take the shot but as you aren’t then touching it the shot will be sharp. The 10 second timer is so that you can set the shot up and then walk around and be in it too, great for family photos where for once the cameraman gets to be in the shot too
