Aerial Video with Drones of 2 schools (see below for the video)
I was recently referred to Lyndsey Maddocks, the head of marketing at Barlborough Hall School & Mount St Mary’s College – by a networking colleague Raj Shah of Blue Wealth Capital – to shoot an aerial video with my drones.
The schools were prepared to wait for a good sunny day to do the video and this and my diary all fell nicely into place a week or so ago.
I arrived on site and together Lyndsey and I did a walk round of the school and then the college to get an idea of the lay of the land and for her to explain the sort of video required.
The video was to start with the approach to the hall up a very long driveway. The trees were quite overgrown so using a bit of artistic licence I mounted the drone on to the bonnet of the car and drove so far down the driveway before then taking off. This made for a much more stable start to the video. Although it was nice and sunny it was a bit breezy too.
Safety in the air and proximity to children and staff
My main concern when flying drones is safety first and everything else second. The school wanted some of the video to show sports and other activities so where the drone would come within 50m of anyone the staff or children were briefed. For the most part though I stayed as clear as I could despite the briefing.
